Website terms

Short, because a small site does not need a long document. The part that matters is the technical data: it is written to be useful, and it is indicative rather than a design calculation.

01Technical data on this site

The tables, formulas and figures here — deflection, PREN, gauge conversion, tolerance limits — are correct as far as we know and are given to explain how the material behaves. They are not a design calculation for your structure, and they are not a substitute for an engineer's check on a specific application.

Deflection figures in particular are computed for a simply supported strip under an idealised load. Real benches have brackets, stiffeners and point loads, and the real number will differ. Where a page says “indicative”, it means exactly that.

02Drawings you send us

Your drawings remain yours. We use them to quote and to manufacture, we keep them so a repeat order is possible, and we do not publish them or reuse your design for anyone else. Ask and we will delete them when the order is closed.

We will not fabricate a part from a drawing that we have reason to believe infringes someone else's design right. If a drawing looks familiar, we will say so before quoting.

03Content on this site

The text and diagrams are ours. Quote them with attribution; do not republish them wholesale as your own technical library.

Links to other sites are provided because they are useful, not because we control them.

04Accuracy, and what happens when a number is wrong

The technical pages are checked against the standards and against shop practice, and where a number is a range rather than a fixed value we say so. Even so, three limits apply and it is fairer to state them than to bury them.

  • Standards change. A standard revision can move a tolerance or a composition range. The edition in force is the one named on your mill certificate, not the one on this page.
  • Values are typical, not certified. A PREN of ≈19 for 304 and ≈24 for 316L is arithmetic on mid-range compositions; your heat will sit somewhere in its own range, which is why the certificate matters more than the table.
  • Application is yours. A deflection figure for a simply supported strip is not a structural check on your bench, and we are a fabricator rather than an engineer of record.

If you find a number here that contradicts a standard you hold, tell us and we will correct the page. Corrections are free and they make the page more useful to the next buyer, which is the whole point of publishing it.

05Orders are governed separately

Nothing on this website is an offer to sell. Orders are governed by the quotation you approve and by the order terms, including payment, shipment and the warranty. Where a website statement and a signed quotation disagree, the quotation wins — which is why everything that matters is written into it.
